As a graphic design student, we have learnt the importance of strong brand guidelines in order to build strong visual identities. Through its colour palette, typefaces, logos and 7 degree planes, the Cathedral has a very strong visual identity throughout all of its media which I hope I managed to maintain.
 
       I will carry forward my learning of the administrative side both design and marketing, making sure I get the relevant sign-offs, the importance of test printing and proof reading and how different events lend themselves to different forms of campaigns. When you make posters seen by thousands of visitors or programmes seen by 900 attendees, there is a definite pressure to make a professional and accurate piece of print.
     
        I've also learnt about the more digital side of marketing and design, with introductions to Wordpress and Meta's advertising suite. This has made me want to pursue learning more about web design as well as UI & UX for my own practice.

        Overall, I would say this internship has boosted the confidence I have in my own practice. An example would be being trusted with the Organ Prom programme and large A1 posters people see on the way into the close. I also learnt the importance of placement of printed media and being conscious of who you want to see your adverts and where would work best to place them.

This project relied heavily on my photoshop skills to create a realistic mockup of an event, using supplied imagery from the artists Luxmuralis. This project involved a back and forth with them and the sponsors to make sure they were happy with the posters and assets before printing. The posters were placed at the entrance to The Close and seen by thousands of tourists and locals each day.

This project for the Cathedral was more independently lead. I identified the different areas that would need posters and talked to the relevant departments about a need for a possible leaflet. I developed social media assets for Instagram and Facebook that are suitable for Meta’s AB testing. I worked with imagery and copy independently sourced from the relevant departments.

2025 Organ Prom 
Full Event Programme Design

This project ran effectively the length of my internship at the Cathedral. I met with the Head of Music and Organists to ascertain what information was crucial to include, as well as speaking to the event sponsor to obtain graphics.
       I was resposible for the print-buying and gathering quotes from various printers. 800 copies were printed and used.

This was an opportunity to work with the Cathedral’s Brand Guidelines in a slighly more creative manner. Inspired by the original poster for the Hunchback of Notre Dame, it still utilises the typefaces associated with the Cathedral and uses a correctly placed and sized logo. I developed social media assets for Instagram and Facebook that are suitable for Meta’s AB testing.

Interstellar: In Concert

When designing assets for this event, there was a consistent back and forth between myself and the performer. It was important to find a balance between all of the information that he wanted to include, whilst maintaining a the brand identity of Salisbury Cathedral. 
        One of the major selling points of this event was also its association with the film Interstellar. I wanted to capture this, but we were unable to use any copyrighted imagery. Instead, I found a different suitable image and typeface, that I could use. I developed social media assets for Instagram and Facebook that are suitable for Meta’s AB testing.
